I started this blog in 2009 to keep folk up to date on my husband's melanoma treatments. I have kept up daily blogs for 16 years…sometimes health related...sometimes just daily routine. 6/16/24 Woody took his final breath in his long health battle. I have blogged for so long that it is part of my daily routine…so I guess I will continue with posts from me about how I cope with this new stage in my life…widowhood.

Delightful Day
Today has been delightful...low temperatures, low humidity...definitely a promise that Fall is on the way. I'm sure that we will head back up in temperatures and humidity...but we'll take any days like this that we can get! I finished up my wash this morning and did a few other little things around the house. Donna and I worked in the library this afternoon. We knew that we had quite a few books to check in and shelf, but we weren't aware of the number that we ended up reshelving. There was a women's conference held at our church weekend before this past weekend. I had been asked if they could use some books in their decorations. They mainly took books out of our reference area, but some others, also...quite a few! We came in today with all these books stacked up on a cart. We had to sort through them as some didn't belong in our library...then we had to sort out those that were ours as to whether they went on the reference shelves or in other places. Many of them went on the top shelf of the reference area...quite a reach from a stool. But we got them all back in their proper place...we think. Then we worked on our next book order. And, caught up with each other as we worked! I came home and gathered up wastebaskets and emptied them for tomorrow's trash pick up. I collapsed cardboard boxes and gathered up other recycled materials. Those are at the curb. I also had fun being able to print photos once again...hadn't been able to do that for more than a year. I chose two and made two cards with some of my flower photos...success and the photos printed off great. I still haven't printed any photos on photo paper. The ones I printed today are on cardstock. I did a little reminiscing today...on Facebook they showed a comment in my feed that happened back in 2010...and I recognized that the comment wass about Woody back in the day of his NIH "adventure." So I decided that I would look back at the blog for prior to today's date...went to mid July of 2010. The blog is really a good source of being able to go back in time! It was a very vivid memory of when Woody and I were in Bethesda, Maryland for his three weeks of "treatments." He is the hospital for all that time and me ensconsed at the Safra House on the NIH grounds. Quite a memory...not an easy time for Woody, but one of "things" that he went through that allowed him to live so many years with melanoma. I am really glad that I have the blog to look back on for the details that would otherwise fade away with time! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!
