Respite day 2

This is our "volunteer" pumpkin. It decided to grow in our compost pile. We always like these volunteer plants that decide to produce something for us. We had quite a few cherry tomato plants pop up in the compost pile that produced quite a bit. This is our only pumpkin...and you should have seen the vine...it wrapped all around the compost pile...lots of blooms...but only one pumpkin. It has started turning orange...so hopefully it will turn orange before it freezes!

We have had a beautiful day weather-wise. When Esther (2-year-old) went back home today after our school session, her comment was: "It's not raining." After Graham (7-year-old) read to me this afternoon, he decided that he would sew a little. He uses my older sewing machine from time to time. We set up the machine in front of the window in our guest room. Graham sat down to get the machine ready and looked out the window and said, "Isn't it a beautiful day!" Does it sound like it was good to see the sun shining once again?

Woody got up early, went to work, walked at lunch, came home and relaxed after work. We took a short walk...just around the block this evening.

Vanderbilt called with the reminder of Woody's appointment for Monday...of course that "voice of Vanderbilt" doesn't know that though we confirmed we still might not be going if Woody's platelet count hasn't come back up. The research nurse who set up our appointment knows that Woody gets up early...she has made us the earliest appointments yet...we will be leaving at "dark and early" if we get to go.
