I started this blog to keep folk up to date on my husband's melanoma treatments. I have kept up daily blogs for 15 1/2 years…sometimes health related...sometimes just daily routine. June 16th Woody took his final breath in his long health battle. I have blogged for so long that it is part of my daily routine…so I guess I will continue with posts from me about how I cope with this new stage in my life…widowhood.

Shod and Sheared
This morning Kathy, Joseph, Isaac and I headed off to the shoe store for shoes for Joseph. Joseph outgrew three pairs of shoes while away! The first three pictures were taken at the shoe store...a good old fashioned shoe store...one where they actually measure your foot. There's no telling how many pairs of shoes I have purchased here over the years...many, many, many! You feel like family when you shop here. I actually taught the owner's three children at Montessori. And her son was Melany's ringbearer in her wedding. Small town living = many, many, many friends...especially since we have lived here almost 50 years now. The fourth picture shows Joseph's new shoes. As soon as we got home, Joseph came into our house to show Goosey (Woody) his new shoes. I took the picture of him trying them out on the slide (reason for the strange angle--one of those angles that one is told not to take pictures from--makes for a very big head and very tiny shoes!). This slide has been around since Erin was 18 months old. She will be 23 in a few weeks. We gave it to her for Christmas. It resided at her house till Erin and Alex outgrew it and then it came here to provide great fun for all of Nathan and Kathy's seven! Definitely a Christmas gift that got enjoyed by many for many years. After lunch I headed off to get my hair cut. So those were my outings for the day. Woody just got back from the Prayer Room at church--his outing for the day. He drove this time and didn't walk. He is still being careful with his leg. His foot and ankle seem to be bothering him some so he isn't walking long distances at the moment. We enjoyed more fresh garden produce tonight. I fried okra...not something that I do very often. This was quite good. It wasn't quite as warm today as it has been. It only got into the low 80's. We are now settling in for another typical quiet evening of reading, crossword puzzling and TV watching. We need to get good and rested as tomorrow is a big day of celebrating...more on that tomorrow!
