WOW! 54 Years!

Today wasn't exactly how I would have chosen to spend out 54th anniversary! But the outcome was a positive one. The doctor and team were able to declot Woody's graft. Nathan came on the dot of 8am this morning and got us on the road shortly thereafter. We drove in the rain most of the way...it did let up as we got closer to our destination in Nashville. It really didn't feel like a work-in appointment. Woody went went back around 11am and the procedure got underway a little after noon. We were on the way hone around 1:30pm and got home around 3:30pm. A long day, but worth it since it was a successful procedure. Woody doesn't seem any the worse for wear! He asked on the way home if he had been put to sleep. The answer to that was "yes!" He had the shakes/shivers after coming out from the anesthesia, which is normal for him. He is loaded up with fleece throws now in an attempt to get warm. His request when he got home was his favorite breakfast: Swiss cheese omelet with scrambled sausage, and sauteed mushrooms, green onions, and sweet red pepper. He was happy. I guess that was brunch and maybe he will have a late supper of a rib and some apple slaw. His medicine is all messed up...will end up getting most of his meds...but not sure about the med that is to be given 12 hours apart. He may miss one of those today so that we can get back on schedule with his meds in the morning. We are so appreciative of Nathan, Kathy and family being able to juggle their schedules so he could take us. He is now all set to have dialysis at his regular time tomorrow. His potassium level was back in normal range today so they said that it was no problem for him to wait till tomorrow. So back to our "normal" dialysis schedule. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!
