Taking a bit of adjustment today from being away for 10 days! I have done a lot of snoozing. I haven't downloaded (or is uploaded?) very many of the photos that I took. We were pretty much off the grid a good portion of the time and I wasn't able to move the photos easily so just waited. So far today I have unpacked my suitcase and sorted the clothes into piles on the floor in the family room. I decided that it was best to unpack in the family room…close to the washer. I just took a shower and added today's clothes to the piles of clothes. I "may" wash a load tonight or…I "might not" find the energy! Nothing pressing to get it all done since most of the clothes are winter clothes…and I will say we did not come back to winter temperatures! The high humidity along with temperatures almost 30° higher than any temp we experienced on the trip and was a bit of a rude awakening to the fact that the trip had come to an end! The temperature while on the trip averaged in the low to mid 50s. We had very pleasant weather…next to no rain…one day it drizzled for a very short period of time. I will share photos and experiences of our trip over the next…probably weeks!!
Tonight I am sharing some of the first photos taken from my stateroom's balcony. The top photo shows the skyline of Seattle while we were still docked. The next is a closeup of Seattle's Space Needle. You can see it, too, in the Seattle skyline from the dock photo. So you can see that we weren’t all that close to it. My lens helped me get closer! My various lenses proved to be good binoculars! The third photo I posted tonight, I took as we were pulling away from Seattle and when the ship's angle gave a good view of Mt. Rainier. Mt. Rainier was in a bit of a hazy fog at the time…but thin enough to be able to capture even the top of it…not always possible as it is often in the clouds.
It's good to be home…now to get back to normal…planning to get back to normal slowly…while thinking back on the memories that were made on this trip…Alaska is an amazing place! I look forward to reliving the memories as I go through my MANY photos! I did have a funny feeling when I walked back into the house the way Cheryl, Rachel, Julianna, and I left it…felt like they should still be here! It has been quite the month…lots of time with family!
To be continued! Be safe! be well! be cautious!
