I started this blog to keep folk up to date on my husband's melanoma treatments. I have kept up daily blogs for 15 1/2 years…sometimes health related...sometimes just daily routine. June 16th Woody took his final breath in his long health battle. I have blogged for so long that it is part of my daily routine…so I guess I will continue with posts from me about how I cope with this new stage in my life…widowhood.

Saturday After Christmas
Another day to do what I want to do...no deadlines...kinda nice after the rush in the earlier weeks in December. I guess I have done some things that I need to do and that perhaps there is a deadline...but just not the same after Christmas. I did go to Kroger this morning to get a few things that I need for lunch with the Proctors on Monday. I have worked on needlework projects...trying to choose fabric for a new cross stitch project. I did finish the ornament that I was working on yesterday...this ornament is for me. I worked in the kitchen, putting away dishes that go up high and need a step ladder...I got the step ladder out and got all the dishes put away that reside on the upper shelves (which means that I don't use them often!). I also decided to make Sour Dough French Bread, which is rising as I write. Its first rising is just about finished and then I will shape the loaves and let them rise for the second time. Hopefully it won't put my bedtime off by too much! This bread uses only the sour dough starter and no yeast. This is a new starter that Wade gave me when we were at their house this past Sunday. When I say that about last Sunday, it seems like a long time ago. This week has passed slowly...I'm always wishing that time would slow down and this week after Christmas seems to have done just that. I will make more preparations for Monday's lunch tomorrow, but plan to make the actual soup Monday morning so it will nice and hot when it is time to eat. While I was working in the upper cabinets, I got down the Christmas dishes that we will need on Monday...may as well use the Christmas dishes at least one more time in 2024. I have been waqtching some Christmas movies as I waited on the dough to rise and worked some more on my latest ornament for 2024...still have three more ornaments that go with this Christmas...one for Melany and Wade, one for Nathan and Kathy, and another for me. They may or may not get finished in 2024...but will still be considered 2024 ornaments. Well, it is time to go check the bread dough to see if it has doubled. 'Tis the season...for a few days longer! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!
