Turkey Day

Well, a very busy, tiring day. "The" turkey made into the oven today thanks to Nathan's help. We got it all set up and the new probe worked well as did the "turkey mode" on the oven...cooked it to perfection. Tonight's photo is just prior to it reaching the set temperature. Nathan came and got the turkey out of the oven and moved it to the carving board. I made gravy. Once the turkey cooled some, I carved it...as in took all the meat off...such a job! My shoulders and feet and back are aching tonight! After I got the meat off the bones, I added all the bones into my stock pot and made turkey broth. All the jobs today were greasy...I don't cook "greasy" very often and what a mess when it comes to clean up! I have a lot of those greasy dishes in the dishwasher, but a lot of the big pans had to be washed by hand...the meat rack, the roasting pan, the carving board, etc. So I have had my hands in the dishwater all too much today! I have quickly cooled the turkey broth by filling the sink with cold water and then adding ice...several times added bowls of ice. It cooled down and it is in the refrigerator cooling the rest of the way. I will remove the fat that rose to the top tomorrow. It was funny, after all the carving, cleaning, etc., I wasn't interested in eating turkey today...so had gumbo for supper. I did eat a couple of small slices of turkey...one dark meat and one white meat. Tasted good but after dealing with all the mess, I just didn't want it for supper! Tomorrow I will enjoy some of what I messed with today! I am tired and very ready to put my feet up and rest. Nothing to do with Christmas or the wedding happened today. I had hoped to work on Abigail's dress...but that didn't happen. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

'Tis-The-Season Busy!

I've been going in lots of directions today...got quite a bit done, but still have lots to do. I did do more "Thanksgiving" cooking today...BUT...didn't get the main thing I planned to cook cooked...the turkey! I asked Nathan come sometime today to help me manhandle my hefty bird. Nathan told me yesterday that he and Elijah were going hunting in the morning and he would come after he got back. He said that it might be later than sooner "if" one of them got a deer. Well, one of them did get a deer...Elijah! So Nathan and Elijah had quite the job doing whatever one has to do with a deer after it is killed...I didn't ask for details!!! Nathan got so involved with that task that by the time he was finished, he was tired and forgot about my request. I called Nathan mid afternoon and told him that at this point I needed to put off the cooking of my turkey until tomorrow...so more "Thanksgiving" cooking tomorrow. I did make the dressing today. I worked on Abigail's bridesmaid dress...got taken apart what needed to be taken apart. Once I get the turkey in the oven tomorrow, I will perhaps head to the seewing room and put back together what I took apart. Last night after I got back home from Melany and Wade's, I started printing my Christmas cards. I decided that I wanted to use one of my photos for my cards this year. I got them all printed. Today I foded them, got them cut apart, signed half of them, wrote a short letter to include in the cards, and have started addressing them. I am happy with them. I borrowed a stamp from Melany for an inside message for my cards. We had a great meal yesterday and enjoyed visiting with each other. I enjoyed the extra time with Alex and Brooke on our trip to and from. Erin was able to join us for the meal, but she is not doing well. I need to work on the two bridesmaid dresses tomorrow, but also need to work on finishing Christmas ornaments and need to continue on with my cards. I also need to take Fall decor off my front porch and replace with Christmas/Winter decor. I got pillow covers for Christmas/Winter today...so have that job to do, too. My head is in a whirl...but...then...it is...'Tis the season! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

Starting to Smell Like Thanksgiving

But these pies are the end of "the smells of Thanksgiving" for here for today and tomorrow, as we have changed plans for Thanksgiving. In the end we have decided to have Thanksgiving at Melany, Wade, and Erin's. Erin isn't doing very well at the moment and we have decided that it would be better for them to stay at their house. Alex and Brooke are going to come here to pick me up and take me to Murfreesboro. They live about a half hour from me...it is a bit of a back step to come my way before heading to Melany's, but not too far out of their way. I guess, to get Grammy! I learn more every day that we need to be flexible! So in the end I am only taking the Autumn gelatin salad and two pies. I should have taken advantage of the extra time that I was given since I don't have as much to prepare for, but I haven't been a good manager of time. I do have the two ornaments that I wanted to finish last night all but finished...just have to add the cord to hang it from and sew on a couple of buttons. I'm planning on doing that next. I want to take one of these to Melany and Wade...it is the ornament that I didn't get finished for them last year! Better late than never? I plan to cook my turkey on Friday along with some of the fixings so I will have some leftovers...read that as LOTS of leftovers. Cheryl and I were talking earlier and both agree that our favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is the leftovers! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

A Day Closer With Preparations

I've had a good day for getting ready...made the best of a rainy day. The mess you see pictured on the kitchen counter is what was needed to make pie crusts for the pies that I will make tomorrow. The second picture is of the pie dough discs that are resting in the refrigerator "developing the gluten." I have the kitchen all cleaned up and have everything out to make the pumpkin pie tomorrow. I plan to make a pecan and an apple pie also...at least pumpkin and pecan...we'll see about the apple! I also made Autumn Salad, a gelatin salad. I had all the cooking finished before noon...then I did a few cleaning chores. I have managed to mark off everything from my list that I was to do today and did all but one of the things that I hadn't finished yesterday. Abigail's dress still hasn't been touched. I even managed to get in a nap. I was especially happy with the mail today...first I got a Thanksgiving card from friends who formerly lived in Tullahoma. They decided to send out Thanksgiving cards rather than Christmas cards...or as she said Valentine's cards, since she often missed the Christmas deadline and sent their cards out after Christmas. The other thing that I was really glad to see arrive in the mail was the meat thermometer probe for my oven. Mine broke the last time I used it. So I had ordered so I would be sure to have it by Thanksgiving, but it had been delayed and I had been told that it wouldn't arrive till next week, so very glad to find it in my mailbox today. And, the oven recognized it when I plugged it in so hopefully it is good to help me out on Thanksgiving to let me know when Mr. Turkey is finished! I am all set up to make the pumpkin pie in the morning. Picture to follow. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

Preparations Underway!

It has been a busy day. I made a list of "things" that I wanted to get done...well, that is comical, as most on the list are still not done. Tonight's photo shows something that got done on my list. I wanted to find all the dishes/pans that I need to use to prepare my part of Thursday's feast. I wanted to get all the things that are up high down, while I had the stepstool out (for decorating things up high). That way all my climbing up and down would be done and I could put the stepstool away. I put the ingredients near to what I will be using to make the recipes. I actually covered the roasting pan with foil...something that I don't think I have done before and am hoping that makes the clean up of that pan much easier. And, having it done prior to the day I need to use it should make it easier, too. Once I had all that organized, them I turned to on making me something to eat prior to Thanksgiving...I wanted to make this over the weekend, but the shrimp hadn't thawed...so today was the day and there was no turning back since the shrimp was thawed. I made Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo...and I will say, "Yummy!" Totally not Thanksgiving food...which is what I wanted since I will have plenty of Thanksgiving leftovers after Thursday's feast! Kathy, her mom, Joy, Isaac, and Joseph stopped by this afternoon. We had a nice visit and the boys did their good deed of the day for me...they blew leaves from my front yard to the curb and blew or swept off my front walkway and driveway. That was an unexpected perk for my day! I went to prayer meeting this evening and am now home. I guess time will tell if I get anything more crossed off my list of to-dos for today! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

VoilĂ !!!

The tree is decorated for Christmas 2025! I was very glad to hang that last ornament on the tree about an hour ago. Then I got busy and got all the boxes upstairs and straightened up the living room so I could take a picture (or two) to share here this evening. Lots of memories...lots of thoughts and prayers for those who gifted me with so many of these ornaments. I am planning to share some of these memories here on the blog throughout December...we'll see if I follow through! It has been a busy day of hanging ornaments, measuring lengths of bridesmaids dresses, visiting with Abigail and Joy, taking things up and down the stairs. I am virtually finished with the decorating...I still have to finish clearing off the dining room table and fixing the centerpiece. The other thing that I may or may not do is the shadow box in the family room. I have brought down the box with the Christmas items in it, but am setting it aside in the family room. If I do change out the things in the shadow box, it will probably happen after Thanksgiving...I'm ready to put aside decorating for a while and get on with other things...like Thanksgiving, other Christmas activities, finishing ornaments, getting dresses ready for Esther and Patrick's wedding, along with sundry other things. It is definitely a busy time of year...but a time that I love. And, I want to enjoy it without being stressed over too many things! When I finish blogging, I need to go get the gift ready for a shower for our pastor's son and future daughter-in-law, that is happening tomorrow after church. It's a kitchen recipe shower and I have to put together all the herbs and spices that I use in my special dry rub and get the recipe ready. Guess I had better close this and go get busy! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

Closer!

I wish that I was a little further, but there is progress from yesterday. I have had a pretty busy day...my Thanksgiving food for recipes that I am making has been purchsed..including a big old turkey all tucked away in the fridge. I also ran a couple errands after getting my groceries put away. It has been a serendipitious day. First when I got home with my groceries, a couple from our church drove by when I was walking in with my first load of grocery bags. I was inside putting groceries away and there was a knock on the door and it was the gentleman who had driven by and he had come back and gotten the rest of my groceries out of my trunk and brought them in to my kitchen...so nice to live in a small town and have so many thoughtful friends. I was still putting my groceries away, when Nathan called. He wanted to come borrow a small scale that I have. He's making juggling bean bags and needs to make them a certain weight. While he was here, I had him put ornaments on top of the tree. As he was getting in his truck, the mailman drove up and I asked Nathan to come back inside and change the lightbulb in my oven...that was part of my mail delivery. So that was very good timing! Abigail and Joy are probably coming tomorrow for me to tend to brides maids dresses. So busy times around here! 'Tis the season! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!

O Tannenbaum!

Quite a bit has happened since I reported that my "tree brigade" was on the way. And, arrive they did! Nathan, Kathy, Graham, Elijah, Isaac, and Joseph all showed up with smiles on their faces despite my late S.O.S. call! They got right to work...Graham headed upstairs first and got it all organized. I told them that I didn't care how the branches came down...that they didn't have to be grouped in like lengths...that I could do that. But Graham put his organization skills to work and sent the branches down by way of his brothers all in order...so I ended up with piles of like branches when they left. Nathan got the tree pole securely in the stand and put on the tree top. After they left, I got the tree together and ready to start on ornaments this morning. I have worked off and on most of the day on the tree and tonight's photo shows the progress and the boxes on the couch still left filled with ornaments to be put on the tree. Decorating the tree is like greeting old friends...so good to see all the ornaments once again...so many memories. I think of my tree as a memory tree...lots of people and happenings that I remember as I hang each ornament. I have been listening to an audio book and am enjoying the storyline...a book centered around holiday celebrations...Thanksgiving and Christmas...very appropriate. My handiman came today and added weather stripping around my front door. He left with an additional job for me on his list. It looks like I really need a new front door insert to really fix the problem so he is looking into it. The back door needs more than just new locks, etc. We will probably replace that one, too. Now to hope that the house hasn't settled so much in its almost 50 years that it will be difficult to put new doors. Well, writing this has given me a break that I needed, but now I am ready to go back to hanging ornaments! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

Things Are Hopping!

I've been busy all day...decorating is coming right along...I'm ready for the tree. So this is short tonight because my "tree brigade" is coming over to help me get the last three heavy boxes of ornaments downstairs and get the branches downstairs. So I'm getting things ready for them! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

Truly Tuesday

Not a lot of decorating happened today, as I spent time cleaning up some of the messes around here so I can make more messes! But the main thing that I did today was fully finish five ornaments...so those are ready to gift. A little while ago, I got back to making ornaments...getting them ready to be stuffed. I have one ready and another to sew on the machine so I can turn it and stuff it. When those two are totally finished all the ones that need to be sent out of state will be finished...a good thing...a very good thing. The ones that will be gifted here locally arent under such critical time crunch. I put away all sorts of things on the card table that I have been working on in the family room...then...sort of filled it up again as I brought down the things that I need to do the last finishes on the ornaments. Donna and I worked in the library today. It is strange not having the computer to check books in and out with. We did have some hope given to us today that perhaps the computer isn't totally dead. I will have it checked out once things slow down after the holidays and Esther and Patrick's wedding. I have been able to "read" while decorating. I found some audio books in a series of books that I had started to read...so I am listening to a book while I am working...as a matter of fact I am listening to the book right now as I type this...so if this makes no sense, it may mean that I shouldn't multitask!!! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

Moving Right Along

I made great strides yesterday with my decorating...was able to focus on just the decorating after I got home from church. I finished with the kitchen...part of which you are seeing in tonight's photo. Now...today...not as much progress! I guess that all my efforts caught up with me today and I was just tired...I have done a little more...but have done more putting away of everyday items than with putting out Christmas...both have to be done before I am finished so what I have done is progress. Since I was finished in the kitchen, I even mopped the floor...so really done and the kitchen is "fairly" clean! I stayed home today up until it was time for prayer meeting. I am now home and going to get back to a little more straightening up before I start on decorating the top of my china cabinet. Pretty much when that is done, I will be ready to bring the tree down branch by branch and get it put together and start that BIG job! But it is beggining to really be "'tis the season" around here! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!

The Carolers Are Gathering…Once Again!

I spent a lot of time today climbing up and down stairs, opening boxes, finding Christmas items that I want to use in my decoratons, putting them here and there. I have chairs that have piles of tissue paper on them from things that I have unwrapped. I'll use that tissue to wrap up everyday items to store them in the boxes that I have unpacked till I undecorate and reverse the process! Almost all the carolers have shown up for their gathering in the living room...there are still a few (three, I think) stragglers. I have found snowmen, trees, and a few angels...lots more of all of those to still be uncovered in one box or another. I set aside an hour this morning to meet with my Cottey book club. We had an enjoyable discussion, as usual. Besides decorating I have managed to do several loads of clothes...still have one in the dryer and one load in the washer. I have been so busy that it was hard to do all the multitasking that I wanted to do. A few minutes ago, I realized that I had forgotten about my washing task...so have that underway once again. I stopped decorating long enough a little before supper time to make a pot of chili. I had planned to have at least one ornament ready to stuff this evening once I stop for the evening. But at this point, I don't think that task will happen this evening. I'm pretty tired so time to relax with my needlework after I do a little more in the kitchen to clean up my cooking mess! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

Busy Friday

Tonight's photo popped up on Facebook today. I took it back in 2016...guess I have been taking barns forna while! Started out the day getting out more decorations. Mid morning someone from the Ford dealership picked up my car to have a recall repair done on it. They picked it up a little before 10am and had it back to me by 11:30am...not bad. I was able to decorate while it was gone...better than sitting in a room at the dealership waiting for it! I ate lunch and then headed to the grocery store. I think that everyone had the same idea at the exact same time, as the grocery store was very crowded and busy today. I got all the groceries put away and did a little more decorating, but my energy ran out pretty quickly. I did a little more stitching on my sampler. I have finished another row and started on the next...so on the third row of this section of the sampler. I also took a bit of a nap...not planned! I have been resting talking on the phone with a friend...not sure what else I might do this evening. Maybe continue getting my wash done...I have a load hung up ready to take upstairs and a load of towels ready to fold...that may be the extent of anything else to do this evening other than read or stitch and/or watch TV. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautioius!

Another Page Finished

I'm reporting on progress with my Bristol Redwork Sampler, but not a lot of progress on my Christmas decorating. Early this morning I completed another page in the chart for my sampler. That makes 4 completed pages out of 16...so I am 1/4 finished...well, really more than 1/4 since I have stitched one row all the way across the top of the sampler and have stitched starts to all the rows down to the bottom. I was going to put this sampler away and work on something else...but something in me says to at least finish one more chart page and have four complete pages from top to bottom. Each row gets a little smaller so it doesn't take quite as long to get across the row. I have done a little decorating, but not a lot. I did go through a box of decorations...took out what I wanted to use and closed up the box on the rest and took the box upstairs to the place I'm putting boxes that I have gone through. The Christmas stockings are hung! Nathan, Isaac, and Joseph came over this afternoon to do a couple of sonny-do projects. I wasn't sure if the overhead light in my bedroom had a problem just because lightbulbs had burned out or if there was a problem with the switch. Looks like it was just the light bulbs as it is nice and bright in there once again. Now I can see to work at my sewing cutting table. The TV in my sewing room also had a problem. Nathan determined that it wasn't a problem that could be fixed, so he picked up a TV for me and he and the boys got it attached on a TV wall thing and I am back in business to be able to watch TV or DVDs while I sew. One thing that I did accomplish today was to call my Ford dealership and get an appointment for am emission recall. They are scheduled to pick up the car in the morning and fix it. Yesterday I got my car insurance questions answered...finally...I finally left a message and they did call me back. Lots of phone calling about "things" lately! I little while ago, I finished sewing another ornament. I have it downstairs all ready to stuff this evening while I relax in my chair and watch TV. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!

A Tree is Done!

Note that the title of tonight's blog says "A" tree. We can get excited when it says "THE" tree...that will mean that the big Christmas tree is up and decorated...that will be a VERY GOOD day! I have kept at the decorating off and on all day. And, I have done quite a bit...lots of going up and down the stairs and in and out of the Christmas closet...when I go upstairs I take something that needs to go back up and when I come down I take a new decoration or box of decorations down. I have cleared off more table tops so they are ready to put Christmas on when I find what goes on them. I have looked at Christmas photos from last year...seeing where I put things last year...that way I don't have to think too much. I found a lot of snowmen today so put them where they go and will add trees, etc. around them when I find them! The dining room table is pretty covered with items that I will need to put away till after Christmas. I will put them in boxes that I empty and store them till after Christmas. I have just returned from Bible study and am settling in for the night. I "might" make an ornament tonight and bring it downstairs to stuff. As I have been saying, "'Tis the Season! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!

The Reason for the Season!

I got two boxes out of the Christmas closet today and unpacked them and the contents were the perfect start to my decorating...my Precious Moments Nativity...the story of Christmas all in one place. I have put out a few other Christmas decorations...two Christmas pictures are hung. All the Fall Decor has been taken upstairs. i have started clearing surfaces and dusting and polishing those surfaces. I did do more cleaning in the kitchen...all the counters have been cleared, wiped off and the regular kitchen items have been put back. I even cleaned the microwave. So I have done a little of this and a little of that throughout the day...I have stayed busy all day except when my back protested and I had to retreat to my recliner and heating pads! At those times I did a little more stitching, a little more reading, and a little napping. Donna and I declared Veterans' Day a holiday for church librarians, too. So we didn't work in the library today. I had a phone meeting this morning making a couple of decisions.I stayed home today. It did get down to 19° but the temperatures rose to upper 40s...so warmer than yesterday. Only to be in lower 30s ovwenight. As the week progresses we are supposed to see 70s, again. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!

It Flurried!

I attempted to get a photo of our snow flurries today. I ended up having to crop a photo so the main part you can see has a darker background so the snow specks can be seen. You will probably need to zoom in on the photo to see what I am talking about! Photo taken to record the first "snow" of the season...not to win any awards!!!A day ago we were enjoying the 70s and today it didn't get out of the 30s and may get down into thr teens tonight! Brrrrrrr! BUT, by the end of the week we will be seeing 70s once again...typical Tennessee season change craziness! I stayed in kept warm today up until I needed to head to the church for prayer meeting this evening...and, it is cold and the wind is blowing...which makes it feel colder. I'm glad to be home and in for the night. I have kept busy today putting things away...clearing the rest of the countertops off and giving them a good cleaning. Goal for this clearing and cleaning is my efforts to get ready for Christmas decorating. Today I finished gathering all the fall decorations up from different places downstairs. They are now either upstairs on the guest bed or on the table in the living room. That is a big step forward. I have stayed busy all day, but haven't gotten back to finishing Christmas ornaments. I have done a little stitching when I rested my back...I'm closing in on finishing another part of the sampler...when I finish the next two borders/bands, I will be 1/4 finished with the whole sampler. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!

'Tis The Season 2025 Has Begun!

Cheryl and I talked today...I showed her a picture that I will add here in a minute. I told her that "it has begun!" Cheryl told me that she had gotten her Christmas storage tubs out of her shed...so she has begun. This photo shows what I have begun...really pretty tongue in cheek for me...as what I did was clean off one part of my countertop...removed all fall decorations and put back the basics and added a decoration that I bought last weekend and got out Christmas napkins.
I couldn't do a lot today in the direction of beginning my Christmas decorating because I need to put away Fall first and had to complete the Sunday School lesson...but I am heading in that direction...hopefully this coming week. I have completed the Sunday School lesson and it is printed out. Part of my fall has been taken upstairs to be put away. I ran one errand today...headed to the Credit Union for their shredding day. I had a box full of EOBs of Woody's and some other papers that I felt it would be good to have shredded. So that job done and several stacks of papers are out of the house.I'm ready to stop and rest for the evening...ready to relax and stitch! To be continued. Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!'Tis the season...sort of!

Full Friday

When I got up this morning, I got ready to head out the door around 9am to head to McMinnville, TN for my six-month check in with my personal care physician. The trip over was beautiful...the sun shining on the leaves. All the way there I kept thinking of places that I might stop on the way back to snap a photo or two. But on the return trip the clouds had moved in and the trees just weren't vivid like they had been earlier and I took no photos on the way home. From leaving the house and getting back to the house it was right at three hours...one hour there, one hour in the doctor office, and one hour home. I was very ready for lunch by the time I got home since I had to fast for labs. Lunch tasted very good once I got to eat it! The trip both ways was uneventful. We have storms predicted for today, as a matter of fact I am sitting here under a tornado watch (conditions right for a tornado to form). I was very glad to travel in the dry for both trips. It was a bit windy and could feel the wind on the car at times. The leaves have really been flying through the air today. After lunch, I got my machines ready to work on Joy's bridesmaid dress. Then I got the dress out and worked on closing up the slit on the side seam of her dress. I got that task done around 5pm. Tomorrow Kathy and Esther will stop and pick up the wedding dress to take to a local bridal shop to have some alterations made on the dress...Esther's dress needs more alterations than I am comfortable with. Joy's dress is now ready for her to try on and I will see about getting the length right and then cut off the extra and hem it...then hers will be ready for the wedding day! After I got Joy's dress done as much as I can till she tries it on, then I headed downstairs and got to work on the Sunday School lesson for Sunday. I begus getting the lesson on paper...still a ways to go. I'll continue to work on it more this evening and then finish it tomorrow. So as tonight's title says...It has been a very full day! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!

The Best of Intentions…

I had every intention to work on Joy's bridesmaid dress and on Christmas ornaments...well, the day has pretty much come and gone and neither got worked on. I did manage to cross a few things off a list of "to-dos" so I guess that was good. I made a couple of phone calls and made a phone-call appointment for next week and phoned in three refills for medicine. I got sidetracked with some cooking. I realized that I hadn't cooked the pork tenderloins that I had bought so stopped and did that which took a chunk of time out of the afternoon...I also made mushroom gravy...and then there was the clean up. By the time I had done that I needed to sit down and rest my back for a while. I stitched a little while I rested. After my rest, I headed to the pharmacy to pick up my med refills. A few minutes ago I finished the background reading for Sunday's Sunday School lesson...now to get something on paper...something to be added to my to-do list...for tomorrow...not today. I'm looking forward to watching Matlock and Elsbeth tonight and resting after my busy day. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!

Plans Changed

I mentioned last night that I had plans for today. Marie, Carolyn, and I had planned to go on a barn trip today, but Marie woke up not feeling good. So plans got changed. I stayed home and did a variety of things...a little on Sunday's Sunday School lesson, a little stitching, and sewed up two more ornaments and stuffed the four that I had sewed up. So...a little of this and a little of that. I went to Bible study this eveninig. I will say it was a little harder to head out the door today in the early evening, since it was already dark...but...I really enjoy going to this Bible study so didn't let the dark hold me back. And...I was sooooo glad that I didn't because when I headed out the door I caught a glimps of the moon through the trees and could tell that it must be a super moon. Once out on the open road, it was straight ahead of me in all its giant glory. I must have gone out close to the time that it was at its largest. So pretty. I wish I could have taken a picture, but couldn't at that moment since I was driving. Speaking of taking pictures, I did try to figure out a couple of things on my camera, after our barn trip was cancelled. Figured that I would do a little with my camera. I watched a couple of YouTubes that gave tips for taking photos in the Fall. Maybe I will be a little more ready when we do go on our next barn trip. There's still lots to learn about this camera! Terrific Tuesday

I started out my day with a hair cut. I always say that it is always a good day when I get my hair cut! Then to top that off, Linda H. and I met for lunch...at the perfect place on a Tuesday...Ruby Tuesday! We enjoyed their special Tuesday hamburger/sandwich deal. The food was good, but being able to just sit and talk for a while made it even better! I came home and not long after I got in the house, Cheryl (my sister) called and we talked for a while. She and I now live an hour closer due to the time change...Arizona doesn't change times so part of the year we are two hours apart and part we are just one hour apart. After we talked, I ended up dozing off for a bit...until the phone rang again and then I visited for a while with Connie. So it was a visiting kind of day! I have stitched a little and I sewed together another ornament...so 2 sewn together out of 25...I'd better get a move on it to get them all done in time for Chrstmas...at this rate they won't be ready till next Christmas! I did bring the two that are sewn together downstairs along with the stuffing material. I think that I will stuff those two while I watch a little TV this evening. But before I do that I am going to head upstairs and wash my hair so I don't end up being itchy due to my haircut. I have had a pretty full and fun day...more fun to come tomorrow! To be continued! Multitasking Monday!

Lots has gone on today. I first did some more on my sampler...I fell asleep last night before I got much stitched so decided to start the day out stitching so maybe I wouldn't fall asleep over it. I got underway with studying for Sunday's Sunday School lesson and worked a while this morning and then a little more this afternoon. My mainn accomplishment was getting started on getting Joy's bridesmaids dress ready to have the hem measured on it. There is a slit in the side that they don't want so I worked on that. When I accomplished what I wanted to on that today, I set it aside and headed to get the vacuum as there were little threads all over the sewing room floor. I want to have the slit sewn up before I have Joy try it on to check about how much it needs to be shortened. I played around a little with the photos that I took on Saturday when we had a bit of a barn trip after we shopped. So tonight you are seeing one of the ones that I took on Saturday. This evening I went to prayer meeting...the first time this Fall that I left in the dark to go. I guess that falling back for the time change is easier...because supposedly we get an extra hour of sleep. But it is still not easy to get used to. The afternoon seems so long...all afternoon it felt much later than it was...and, according to my internal clock, it is really 8:40pm instead of 7:40pm! This afternoon, I got fooled by a clock that I had forgotten to change Saturday evening when I changed the other clocks...it is a clock that I have in my sewing room. I looked at the clock thinking that it must be lunch time and it was an hour or more after lunch time...I went downstairs to take the med that I take before lunch and saw the kitchen clock and did a double take...then realized what I hadn't done to the clock upstairs. I changed the clock in the car when I went to prayer meeting tonight. I NOW think that I have changed all the clocks! Tomorrow is another busy day. To be continued! Be sare! Be well! Be cautious!

Shopping and Barning!

Marie, Carolyn, and I headed off this morning to go to Shelbyville to do some Christmas shopping. One of the gift shops had a Christmas open house today...found a wedding shower gift and some fun Christmas items to add to my decorations. Then we ate an early lunch. Then on to the Christian bookstore and then another store that always has good Christmas items. The last store closes early on Saturdays so we didn't have long to shop in there. On our way home we took some new to us roads and found some good barns...more of those finds to come as blog photos! Tonight's barn I had posted early in the week. Today's photo of this barn shows it off in all it's glory amongst the Fall foliage! Tomorrow is a shower for Patrick and Esther at Edgemont Baptist Church in Shelbyville...so I will be heading back to where we were today. My friend Linda H. teaches a Sunday School class there and I am going to her class and then going to church there. The shower is immediately after church. Melany is going to come to the shower and then going to come back here to visit for a while. I'm off now to fix a chicken casserole for our lunch. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! I've already changed my clocks that don't change automatically...a bit confusing for the rest of the evening. One clock says 7:42 and another says 6:42!
