I started this blog in 2009 to keep folk up to date on my husband's melanoma treatments. I have kept up daily blogs for 16 years…sometimes health related...sometimes just daily routine. 6/16/24 Woody took his final breath in his long health battle. I have blogged for so long that it is part of my daily routine…so I guess I will continue with posts from me about how I cope with this new stage in my life…widowhood.

O Tannenbaum!
Quite a bit has happened since I reported that my "tree brigade" was on the way. And, arrive they did! Nathan, Kathy, Graham, Elijah, Isaac, and Joseph all showed up with smiles on their faces despite my late S.O.S. call! They got right to work...Graham headed upstairs first and got it all organized. I told them that I didn't care how the branches came down...that they didn't have to be grouped in like lengths...that I could do that. But Graham put his organization skills to work and sent the branches down by way of his brothers all in order...so I ended up with piles of like branches when they left. Nathan got the tree pole securely in the stand and put on the tree top. After they left, I got the tree together and ready to start on ornaments this morning. I have worked off and on most of the day on the tree and tonight's photo shows the progress and the boxes on the couch still left filled with ornaments to be put on the tree. Decorating the tree is like greeting old friends...so good to see all the ornaments once again...so many memories. I think of my tree as a memory tree...lots of people and happenings that I remember as I hang each ornament. I have been listening to an audio book and am enjoying the storyline...a book centered around holiday celebrations...Thanksgiving and Christmas...very appropriate. My handiman came today and added weather stripping around my front door. He left with an additional job for me on his list. It looks like I really need a new front door insert to really fix the problem so he is looking into it. The back door needs more than just new locks, etc. We will probably replace that one, too. Now to hope that the house hasn't settled so much in its almost 50 years that it will be difficult to put new doors. Well, writing this has given me a break that I needed, but now I am ready to go back to hanging ornaments! To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious! 'Tis the season!
