What a Crew!

Our ramp crew was johnny on the spot this morning. Woody got a call that he could go in early for dialysis and one of the crew was already here when we headed out the door. How nice it is to have such good friends and also a group of men in our church who do things like this when the need arises. We appreciate their friendship and their efforts! In total there were eight here working at one time...one left mid morning but the rest stuck it out for the duration. I know that they must be tired tonight. We are very pleased with the end results. It is very sturdy. The slope on the ramp is gentle. It will be easier for Woody to come and go whether using his walker or taking a ride in the wheelchair. And, it was all done in a day! Like the title of tonight's blog says: "What a Crew!" We will never be able to thank them enough! After dialysis, Woody went into the Peritoneal Dialysis side of the kidney center. They attempted to flush his line once more, but to no avail. The nurse is going to contact the surgeon and then I guess we will find out what is next. I left Woody in the peritoneal dialysis chair today as I had a hair cut appointment and couldn't get him home and me back across town in time to get to my appointmet in time. After they were finished with the attempt to get the line unblocked (or whatever the problem is), Woody went back to the hemodialysis side of the center to wait for me to come back for him. He had a book and I figured that it was better than sitting in the car. He was waiting outside on a bench when I got there to pick him up...probably enjoying the warmer temperature after being in the cold dialysis rooms. Today had lots happening between ramp builders building, two dialysis appointments, and my hair appointment but we managed to survive the day! The rest of the week should be easy peasy...just two more dialysis appointments and a preop appointment for Woody's biopsy next week in the way of medical appointments...unless his surgeon decides that he needs to come in sooner than his next appointment which is next week. Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!
