Ensconced on Pooks Hill

We arrived at the National Institutes of Health a little after noon. We soon found out that they wouldn't admit Woody till tomorrow. So that meant a glitch in our plans (part of the adventure?)...can't stay at the lodge unless you have been admitted. (lesson learned: don't listen to the doctor except for medical things! The doctor is the person who said to get admitted today--so we could stay at the lodge. Of course, I had mentioned what the doctor had said to the social worker prior to her making our reservations at the lodge...but guess she didn't "totally" clue in...I guess.) After we had been there a while, "our" social worker did call us...then she made a few calls..."no go" for the lodge...she also checked with the hotel that we had reservations with for later in the week and they did have a room for us. So we are ensconced at the hotel on Pooks Hill.

We traveled about 190 miles today. We started out in a pretty thick fog, but it lifted rapidly and the rest of the ride was uneventful...even the beltway wasn't as harrowing as last week, since it wasn't one of the rush hours. And, because we had been here before we found everything very easily.

Woody was pretty happy to settle into our hotel room...a bit of a long day for him. He is busy doing crossword puzzles. He and I have parted ways! I am on Eastern time and he is still on Central time! I am blogging from the lobby...where they have free wi-fi.

Tomorrow is pre-op day and he'll be admitted into the hospital.

Tonight's blog picture is a view from one of the rest stops in Virginia.
