Fish Fry Saturday

Here's Mr. Mocking Bird, our bully bird.  He tends to swoop down and scare off other birds that come in to feed at our feeders.  I was very glad to see some of the chickadees come back the other day.  The smaller birds hadn't been coming to the feeders like they had been.  The woodpeckers don't seem to be bothered by his presence and don't fly away when he comes flying in.  I have noticed that a mocking bird has been singing in a nearby tree...not sure if this is a warning that he is near by and not to come too close or what.  I just don't want him to chase away other types of birds.  He does have a pretty song...not sure which bird that he is mocking but it is a rather loud but pretty song.

Woody got up early once again and walked four miles.  It is just as well that he is walking early as our days are really warming up.  After he got home, I helped him make a couple kinds of bar cookies to take to Sunday School tomorrow.  His grade Sunday School boys are "in charge" with bringing breakfast treats for the whole youth department.  They snack before Sunday School most Sundays.

This afternoon we headed towards Shelbyville to a lovely farm up on a hill between Tullahoma and Shelbyville for the annual fish fry that is a fund raiser for a crisis pregnancy center.  Our friends, the Hasty's, invited us.  We enjoyed visiting with them.  Nathan and Kathy and family weren't available to attend this year.  They had a gig today that prevented them from going this year. It was a very pretty afternoon, though, a bit warm.  We were glad to get seating under a tent to eat and visit...good to be out of the direct sun and every once in a while a nice breeze blew through.  Good eats as usual...and as usual probably ate too much!
