Heads Spinning

Finding out about Woody's scans seemed slow...but when things started happening everything happened really fast! I emailed the surgeon last night and we got a call from his office first thing this morning and they said that he hadn't gotten the scan report yet and that it would probably be another day or two till we heard from him. BUT...the doctor called a few hours after that and talked with Woody. The summary of the talk is that he does recommend that Woody have surgery to reexcise a wider margin around where the mole was taken out and he also wanted to check out a spot that showed up near his elbow. He hung up saying that he had to get with his surgery scheduler. I figured that we wouldn't hear from her till tomorrow at earliers...but wrong again. She called and said that Dr. Kelley told her to put Woody on his surgery schedule on Friday. Ok...then she started giving me instructions. The anesthesiologist will have an appointment with Woody on the phone Thursday morning. Then she told me that Woody has to have a Covid test 48-72 hours prior to the surgery and that there were only certain designated places where he can get it...none in Tullahoma. It was finally determined that Murfreesboro is the closest plae that is approved. We are having trouble understanding why he couldn't get it at the hospital here in town...it is now a Vanderbilt hospital. Have not a clue...but it is NOT on the approved list. I called and left a message at the Walgreen's Vanderbilt Clinic in Murfreesboro and they just called back and told him that he could come any time...that he doesn't need an appointment. So he plans to go early tomorrow morning hoping to get in and out quickly. And, then we will be able to check one thing off the list of to-dos before Friday. This is all so new that most don't know about what is going on...so those who read this will be one of the first to be on on the latest in Woody's melanoma saga! I'm sure that this won't be the end of the story! I figure we will be heading back to his melanoma doctor after he heals from the surgery. This is just the beginning of being back in the Vanderbilt loop. I've had a busy baking day. I made cinnamon-apple English muffins and also made a yummy dessert that we hadn't had in a very long time--Apple Rolls--think cinnamon rolls except with pie crust for the roll and it cooks in a sugary syrup...a variation on apple pie...but a bit more decadent, I think. Tasted pretty good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it. Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!
