Woody's Place in History and Current Events!

It's a little bit overwhelming when you open up a news article "feature of the day" and realize that you have been a part of that news.  The two gentlemen who will share the Nobel Peace Prize in Physiology or medicine are the key factor...the beginning of the discovery of the two immunotherapy drugs that Woody has taken...Ipilimumab and Keytruda (pembrolizumab).  I just checked the blog for November 25, 2014 and tonight's blog photos show the second infusion of Keytruda that he was given.  I have given  links to two of the articles that I was greeted with in the early hours this morning.  I made sure that I shared them with Woody by sending them by email from my iPad to our laptop and sent them to Woody's attention! James P. Allison was at the beginning of the discovery of what became Ipilimumab, which Woody also took but it was not as effective for him as was Keytruda, which Tasuku Honjo was at the beginning of its discovery. I am so thankful that God gave these gentlemen their great curiosity and inspiration and tenacity to have come up with these "theories" and to pursue them to the point that today they have been developed into drugs that are showing great leaps in curing certain types of cancer. I am also thankful for all the men and women in the medical research world that made these drugs actually happen and not just be a theory! And, I am especially thankful that God's timing was such that Woody was able to be one individual who got to try both these drugs and that one of these drugs "did what it was supposed to do" to his cancer cells!

Here's the beginning paragraph of the NPR article:
J
ames P. Allison and Tasuku Honjo will be awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discoveries which led to the development of a revolution in cancer treatment — therapies that work by harnessing the body's own immune system.
