Hemming and Hawing

But it is really more hemming than hawing that will be going on here. First I have Joseph's baseball shirt that lost it's hem (stitching pulled out). Esther delivered that this morning...have to get my serger set up for cover stitch, change thread colors, and baste up that hem so it stays in place while I serge around it. The deadline for that is Thursday. Then Abigail and a friend came over this afternoon. Abigail tried on her dress with the shoes that she has decided on for her wedding day. She needed to try it on with the heels so I could see how much to take off. Next will be basting it up and then she will come back and make sure that it is the right length. Kathy asked a little while ago if Joy and Esther could come by Saturday and try on their dresses with the shoes they have chosen. Again, I will have to baste and have them come back to check to make sure it is right. There's a lot going on being woven in and out of their lives...Graham's graduation from Motlow Community College is Monday. Friday and Saturday Kathy and Nathan are having a yardsale at the BCM at Motlow. Sunday is graduate recognition at Edgemont Baptist in Shelbyville...Graham and Joy are being recognized in that. Joy is graduating from high school and cosmetology school. Her graduation for beauty school will be in June...after the wedding. Kathy and Nathan are having a party for both of them later in May. And, along with the graduate recognition for graduates at Nathan and Kathy's church, there is a shower for Abigail at our church, First Baptist in Tullahoma on Sunday afternoon. And, of course, right in the middle of all this is Abigail and Payton's wedding...middle of June. And, if all works out I will have cataract surgery before and after the wedding in June. And, before Sunday I need to get my stitching done for Abigail and Payton's gift! There has been no time for stitching so far today. We did have a bit of a snag in our day as Woody was getting out of the car here at home after dialylsis. His pants got caught on the wheelchair and the wheel chair seat material also folded up and kept him from being able to move from car seat to wheelchair and he ended up on the ground between the wheelchair and car. I called Nathan to see where he was and he was in Shelbyville working at Edgemont Baptist where he is chidren's minister. So he called the next strongest in their home...Esther and Elijah. They were at the BCM at Motlow so not all that far away. But before they could get here, our sweet neighbor who lives in Nathan and Kathy's old house saw that we were in distress as she drove by so she stopped and attempted to help, but she's pretty tiny. We convinced her that we were fine till the grandchildren got here. Not long after that our neighbors on the other side of us saw us and they both came over posthaste and got him up just as Esther and Elijah pulled up. Our neighbors did it so easily. She said that she had learned how years back when her mother was alive and she had to go rescue her after she fell. I'm just so afraid that people will hurt themselves...as he doesn't weigh much, but he also can't help much so he is pretty much dead weight. But he was up and in the wheelchair and in the house. He did sleep quite a bit this afternoon. He does thing that he twisted his knee a bit...so we are watching that. We did get him successfully transferred from his recliner to his bed/couch...where he will stay till morning. I think that it will be best if he uses the wheelchair for transferring for a few days rather than the walker. In my opinion, it has been too busy a day! We are so thankful for such good neighbors who live all around us. This afternoon another neighbor mowed our back yard and our lot behind our house. Everyone is looking out for us...looks like that is a good thing!!! This evening, I am going to work on Joseph's baseball shirt and then maybe stitch on that elusive gift. To be continued! Be safe! Be well! Be cautious!
